The downside of the living room rearrangement I had to do to fit the futon is that my drop spot (keys, sunglasses, stuff leaving the apt) is across the room. Thus, all kinds of incoming and outgoing crap winds up landing on the side table (to be moved to the other half of the futon as soon as I want to use the table for, say, a drink and snack).
I think this has given me a reason to get this shelving unit from Ikea, which I want but until now have not really had a use for. Annoyingly, it is not a unit they ship so this will have to wait for my next Zipcar day.
